GET KIDS ACTIVE NOW MORE THAN EVER

MyCycle, powered by Bike Fort Collins, is excited to announce an innovative collaboration that combines corporate philanthropy, team building, and employee engagement through bike build and assembly events. This unique model not only fosters a sense of community within participating organizations but also results in brand new bikes for children in our community. These events provide an excellent opportunity for companies to engage their employees in meaningful activities while contributing to a worthy cause.

providing new bikes and helmets to every 2nd grader in need, while also expanding the program to support as many deserving 5th graders as possible through additional fundraising. This initiative creates opportunities for personal growth, independence, and healthy lifestyles by giving students the freedom to safely explore their neighborhoods, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of bicycling. Our mission aligns perfectly with Bike Fort Collins’ ongoing partnership with the Poudre School District through the Safe Routes to School program, which encourages safe, active transportation and helps more students experience the many benefits of riding a bike.

We invite you to join us in making a difference. Your support can help us reach more children and have a lasting impact on their lives. Whether through financial contributions, volunteering at our events, or corporate sponsorships, there are many ways to get involved. Together, we can create a healthier, more active future for the next generation. Let’s come together to inspire and empower our youth, fostering a community that values health, wellness, and the joy of cycling.

300 bike GOAL

We are seeking funding to provide bicycles and helmets for students attending Title I elementary schools within the Poudre School District. These schools serve a significant number of students from low-income families, and we believe that access to a bicycle can have a lasting impact on a child’s physical health, confidence, independence, and overall well-being. Our primary goal is to ensure every eligible 2nd-grade student—approximately 300 children each year—receives a new bike and helmet. With additional community support, we also hope to provide bikes to as many deserving 5th-grade students as funding allows, giving even more children the opportunity to experience the freedom, joy, and lifelong benefits of cycling. The schools we are focusing on are listed below.

  • Bauder Elementary School
  • Harris Elementary School
  • Irish Elementary School
  • Laurel Elementary School
  • Linton Elementary School
  • Putman Elementary School

Since launching MyCycle in 2020, we’ve provided more than 1,600 new bikes and helmets to local students, helping thousands of kids experience the freedom and confidence that comes with riding a bike. Today, the program continues to grow, with approximately 300 bikes and helmets distributed each year to students in need, ensuring more children have access to safe, reliable transportation and the joy of riding.

“Proud to share that I funded a bike for a PSD 2nd grader who doesn’t have one. Now more than ever kids need an exercise outlet. Plus this program has shown these bikes help past recipients improve attention spans, grades and reduce truancy.

kids feel the love!

Now more than ever, more bike time equals.

  • More connection to outdoors and other kids:  Before COVID-19, school was a resource for many students for connectivity, peers and support
  • Less screen time:  Since COVID-19, screen time is up 60% to 11.2 hours daily
  • More routine and exercise:  Only 1 in 5 kids currently meets the daily recommended amount
  • Enhanced development:  Lack of play has severely impacted kids psychosocial development during the pandemic
  • Greater sense of adventure and independence
  • And, the bike size typically lasts a student 3-years
