We couldn’t have asked for better timing—blue skies, perfect temps, and we beat the rain and the wind. That’s a win before we even pedaled out.
With the weather fully on our side for a mid-March ride, more than 45 riders rolled in early Saturday morning to Retreat Bakery and Bar, where Anne and Kathy kicked things off with check-in, warm smiles, and great energy. By 9am, wheels were spinning and the adventure was underway.
Just 2.5 miles in, we made our first (and very important) stop at Buttermilk Bakery & Pie Shop, where owner Cherish Devereaux welcomed us with two irresistible options: her signature buttermilk pie or the always-refreshing key lime pie. A tough call—but truly no wrong answers here.
Fueled up and feeling good, the group cruised another 3.5 miles along Fort Collins’ low-stress bike routes before pulling up to Totally 80’s Pizza & Museum. This spot is as fun as it sounds—wall-to-wall 80’s nostalgia, arcade vibes, and the smell of fresh pizza in the air. Riders had to make yet another big decision: classic pepperoni or cheese slices (arguably the hardest choice of the day). And just when we thought it couldn’t get more rad, our resident Safe Routes to School Instructional Coordinator, Tim Han, jumped in with a quick roadside flat repair demo—keeping things rolling and proving that even in the middle of an 80’s pizza party, you can still pick up some pro bike skills.
Then it was time for the grand finale—back to Retreat Bakery and Bar after about 10-ish miles of riding, laughing, and eating our way through town. Owners Michael Owens and Co-Proprietor Cat brought it home with two final heavy hitters: Three Apple Pie or Banana Cream Pie. Yes…another impossible choice.
Tour de Pi(e) 2026 was equal parts bike ride, dessert crawl, and wonderfully weird mathematical adventure—powered by the incredible energy of our cycling community. Huge thanks to our amazing local partners, our rockstar volunteers, and every rider who came out ready to roll and indulge.
Start stretching now—Tour de Pi(e) 2027 is already baking, and we can’t wait to ride (and eat) with you all again!
