Given the COVID-19 pandemic, Bike Fort Collins was not able to deliver Safe Routes to School programming this past spring as it traditionally has. In fact, the only school we were able to deliver programming was Riffenburgh Elementary School, before schools and the community were restricted to staying-at-home and remote learning.
In response to this, Bike Fort Collins and the City of Fort Collins pivoted the programming model and used the semester to develop a series of videos featuring many of the topics that are typically taught as part of the Fort Collins Safe Routes to School curriculum. Our Safe Routes to School Instructors filmed the videos at their homes or in local parks. In some instances they had the assistance of family members in order to stay in compliance with good social distancing practices. The videos were then edited by the city into their final versions. Note: Not all videos were produced for every curriculum topic at each school level during spring 2020, but we have since updated this post with subsequent videos that were produced over the summer and fall.
