The 2025 Tour de Farms rolled in with sunshine, fresh flavors, and plenty of pedal power! Held on the fall equinox, the ride couldn’t have asked for better conditions—a crisp morning gave way to a golden afternoon, setting the stage for a perfect day to celebrate bikes, farms, and community.
This year’s tour sold out quickly, with riders gathering at Zwei Brewing to kick off a 29-mile adventure through Fort Collins’ network of scenic, low-stress bike routes. Along the way, participants visited three incredible local farms, each offering a glimpse into Northern Colorado’s vibrant food culture—along with a few tasty surprises.
Stop #1: Belafonte Farm
The first stop brought riders to Belafonte Farm, where a hearty breakfast casserole—veggie or pork—set the tone for the day. Farmers highlighted their use of regenerative agriculture, showing how simple practices can improve soil health and sustainability. Belafonte operates on leased land at two sites: its primary location south of Vine between North Taft Hill Road and North Shields Street, and its original plot at the Flores del Sol Natural Area, part of the Northern Colorado Foodshed Project’s Accelerator Program, which helps beginning farmers establish themselves. Flores del Sol is owned by the City of Fort Collins and leased to Poudre Valley Community Farms, a land cooperative working to create community-supported farmland and ensure affordable, long-term access to agricultural land in the Poudre Valley.
Stop #2: On the Vine at Richmond Farms
The second stop was On the Vine at Richmond Farms, a welcoming midtown farm where riders enjoyed steaming bowls of farm-to-table sweet corn chowder (recipe linked!) while chatting with longtime growers Bob and Debi Miller. With decades of farming experience, the Millers shared their passion for cultivating food that nourishes both people and the local food system. Spanning nearly four acres, On the Vine takes pride in the quality and freshness of its organically grown vegetables, herbs, and flowers, along with the neighborly presence it brings to the community. The farm offers a CSA program that connects members directly to their food, with discounts available for “working members” who join in the hands-on experience of farming. In addition to the CSA, On the Vine serves as a market farm, making fresh produce available daily—no need to wait for the weekend farmers’ market. Visitors can stop by anytime during the growing season whenever the farm’s roadside signs are out.
Stop #3: Bird Song Farm
The final stop was Bird Song Farm, tucked away on a quiet dead-end street in a small neighborhood, where riders refueled with slices of moist zucchini carrot bread (recipe linked!) before the last stretch of the ride. A small, sustainable operation, Bird Song Farm is known for its boutique and seasonal flowers. With a focus on local and sustainable practices, the farm continues to grow “wilder by the year,” delighting the community with stunning blooms.
Back at Zwei Brewing
After a morning of pedaling and tasting, riders circled back to Zwei Brewing for a well-earned lunch from Fat Tomato NoCo food truck, serving up everything from tacos and burritos to loaded fries. A cold Zwei brew was the perfect post-ride refreshment.
The celebration didn’t stop there! A silent auction featured experiences like a Bikes & Beer package fom Zwei Brewing and Recycled Cycles and Fitness, a FoCo Date Night for Two from The Regional and The Lyric Cinema , a Climb Higher package from Ascent Studios & Organic Alternatives, and even a Fall Mountain Bike Getaway in Fraser, Colorado. Riders also shopped for fresh produce at a pop-up mobile farmers market hosted by Familiar Foods.
Powered by Volunteers
Behind every successful Tour de Farms are the volunteers who make it all happen. From early morning setup crews and friendly faces at each farm stop to finish-line helpers handing out beer tokens and goody bags, their energy and dedication kept the day rolling smoothly. Special thanks also go to Joel Blocker Photography for capturing the day’s best moments.
