, and Sometimes referred to as “Fort Collins’ best holiday,” the 35th annual Summer Bike to Work Day had over 5,400 participants biking, walking, or using other forms of active transportation to over 150 stations. Once again Bike Fort Collins had our station located at Oak Street Plaza. We are grateful to our breakfast station partners including: FC Utilities, HSD Law, The Rio, Signarama, Sage and Oak Massage, The Cupboard, and Captrust.
This year’s closing ceremonies were held on the lawn at Foothills Mall with bike themed songs performed by the School of Rock. And, BFC’s Safe Routes to School, Senior Lead Instructor, Rose Samaniego was recognized with the Bicycle Ambassador Appreciation Award. With Closing remarks from District 2 Councilmember, Julie Pignataro.
Keeping with tradition, the day’s events wrapped up at Odell Brewing where they graciously hosted the 15th Bike From Work Bash (basically two per year since 2014, not counting the pandemic). Travelers by bike lined up to receive their FREE beer or wine along with lots of fun BFC swag. Rusty 44 kept the crowd entertained while attendees waited to see if they won the big door prize, a new Pure Cycle single speed bike generously donated by Recycled Cycles, along with other great prizes from Trek, Topo Design, Brave New Wheel, Drake Cycles, Jax Outdoor Gear, and O’Dell Brewing. Over $2,000 in prizes overall.
As always we are grateful to Odell Brewing for their continued support and to all of our amazing volunteers for the donation of their time, energy and enthusiasm for all things bikes here in Fort Collins.
We look forward to seeing you again at Winter Bike to Work Day.
